This is a much needed new item for those that are gluten intolerant, gluten sensitive or cannot eat foods that may have the gluten proteins  found in common cereal grains …these proteins include wheat, barley, graham, rye and derivatives that can contain combinations of these proteins. Even some foods like seasoned nuts, matzo, soy sauce, yogurts, herbal products may contain by products of gluten proteins so we are very careful with our suppliers to bring you the best on the market.

These are just two gift basket combinations that we can offer but we can customize with other items as well. Fruit and fruit juices, millet, quinoa, most rices, nuts and seeds are usually on the Guten Free safe list but as with all foods, know your labels.

We have tried all of the products that we are stocking for our gift baskets and like the sweet potato stiks, rice crisps filled with cocoa spread, snack bars, black bean chips, fruit gems and even craklebred. The Cracklebred is not only Gluten Free but is fat free, cholesterol free and has zero trans fat…but the best is it has flavor. Flowers From The Rainflorist Brings Back the Romance of the Rose

18 Nov

Walking into Flowers From The Rainflorist Shop is always a blissful trip down memory lane of when Roses smelled like…well, Roses! Today you can smell the regular beautiful roses we carry but most are not like grandma’s garden roses that we use to smell outside the window growing up. Not too strong, but rather a gentle, luscious exquisite fragrance, that when smelled later on as you grew up, always took you back to that moment.
.
Recently we started to import some of these “Grandma’s Roses” also known as Garden Roses or as the English call them ” English Cut” or the French say ” Romantica’s” that have an elegant fragrance that wafts throughout our shop. Now the shop smells like a “Real Rose Garden”….It makes you want to bury your nose into one for a long time….it makes you feel romantic…it makes you want to pin one in your hair, or place it on your desk or dance with it in your mouth to some sexy Latin beat, but for sure it makes you desire it…. the hardest decision is which one do you want to take home.

These magnificent beauties come from special farms in Holland and the Andes of South America and are an absolutely delightful indulgence to the senses. They are full petaled, rich in colors, hardy, and the fragrance really does not fade.

With names like Mythos, Toulouse Lautrec, Augusta Luise and my all time favorite ” Wanted”, these nostalgic roses conjur up all sorts of romantic escapades. With bold reds, chartreuse, apricots, light pinks, whites, yellows, intense pink and even a mix of lavender and pink combined we can certainly satisfy the most discerning “nose”.

For the Brides planning their wedding, these are the gorgeous roses you see in wedding magazines that make you desire them for your bouquet. And the size of the rose when it opens is astounding!

So stop in..sniffs are free!

Bosses Day

14 Oct

Bosses Day is October 16th and seems to come with a certain degree of contention.  Everyone one has had a difficult boss at some point or another, but in that light there exists that ever so rare “fun boss”. A boss that cares about your well being.  A boss that not only notices all the work you do for them but goes as far as rewarding you for that work. A boss that is less of a dictator and more of a mentor.  A boss that deserves some recognition.

The Irony is that Bosses Day was originally invented by an employee forgetting their bosses’ birthday.  To make up for their forgetfulness, the employee gave their boss a gift later and called it Bosses day.  So really, the inspiration of Bosses day came out of a forgetful employee making amends.  So whatever your relationship is with your boss, think of Bosses day as an opportunity to build a new, healthy relationship with your boss.  And who knows, it may have a positive effect on your career.

After all, here at Flowers from the Rainflorist we like to say, “it pays not to forget”.

Check out some of our Bosses Day arrangements!

Unique Fall Flowers…Thanksgiving is near!

3 Sep

Well, it’s official…summer is over as of this week-end for many even though Fall does not officially start until the 23 of September. So enjoy the pool parties, the beach, the boating etc. before the weather starts to change. It won’t be long before Thanksgiving is here and we’ll be basting turkeys, watching football games and lighting candles in our centerpieces.

Here in South Florida, we can extend those activities a bit longer because it feels like summer even in winter sometimes. But officially it is coming to an end…and the kids are back in school…yay for that.

Flowers From The Rainflorist is starting to bring in Fall colored flowers this week. We have orange roses, yellow sunflowers and all the usual colored flowers that we can obtain year round, but….now we get to work with really odd sounding flowers.

For example, we have red rovers …yes Red Rovers…I always thought that was a game.  Red rover , red rover send somebody over….well it’s a flower as well. Actually it’s proper name is chrysanthemum (mum’s) and it is more of a burnt orange-brownish color. Mum’s as they are commonly known have a ton of varieties but the Fall colores are  richer in color.

Then we have Kangaroo paws…no they don’t hop or have a pouch but they are hairy and have several claw-like paws similar to the kangaroo. Their proper name is Angiozanthos. You can see why they are called “kangaroo paws”…so much simpler.

Our flower selection will even expand in the orchid department to our cut orchids.  They will have a hint of fall to them with the yellow and orange Mokarra’s and cymbidiums blooms in browns and yellows. The brown cymbidium goes by the name of Charley Brown.

Of course, the most magnificent flower for the fall is the elegant Mini Calla Lilly. So stately and simple yet so regal. During the fall it comes in a burnt orange, a yellow and a rust colored version that is eye catching.

Even hydrangea can be florally enhanced by your florist to have tints of fall shades, however the natural purple hydrangea when added to fall colors certainly creates a “pop” to the other colors. These make exquisite bridal bouquets and the rich colors of the Fall are often why so many Brides choose the Fall months to marry in. The weather is cool the flowers abundant in rich colors, spices abound and uniquely designed bouquets can be created.

The Fall season offers up pods, seeds and berries that are not always available the rest of the year so wedding bouquets and arrangements can have a very unique look.

The fun part of Fall for us is being able to add vegetables to our designs. We have access to gourds, mini pumpkins, squash, artichokes, apples, even asparagus! And of course there are the Fall colored berries as well. So come by the shop and see our gorgeous selection of rich colored Fall blooms.

Flowers From The Rainflorist and The Sunrise School Back Pack Project

31 Aug

Last month we let our customer’s, friends, vendors and family know that our “give back” project for this quarter was to participate in the Back Pack Project for the students in Sunrise.

What an overwhelming success! With our vendors, the FOP Lodge 80 collections and donations, The Mayor and the Commissioner’s personal contributions combined with the City Of Sunrise’s participation made it possible to send over a 1000 students to school totally prepared for the year. Each back pack was filled with pencils, composition books, paper and all the necessary supplies to start the year off on the right foot.

Our Assistant Marketing Associate signed the boxes in on their arrival to our Flower Shop and loaded them into one of our vans so we could deliver them to the Civic Center. They certainly filled it up and then some. Who knew that we would ever get that many boxes!

The President of the FOP, Roger Krege was there to get it organized before the volunteers even arrived he did an amazing job…kudo’s to him and his team. It really helped to make the job go quickly. When the time came to actually pack things up for the student the volunteers were ready….

Looking at the stack of back packs to be filled was rather daunting but with everyone’s help, including our own Shaena Coffey who assists the Marketing Department of our shop, the mission was accomplished.

There was even enough supplies left over to deliver 8 huge bins full of extra supplies to the school Principals around the City of Sunrise to use as needed. This was a very rewarding “give back” program and we thank all of our vendors and friends that took the time to drop off supplies. Everything and everyone involved helped make this a huge success.

Flowers From The Rainflorist Celebrates National Dog Day Contest

25 Aug

Yep…National Dog Day is right around the corner on Aug 26 . I know….Woof Woof..no big deal is what I thought until I started to think of all the amazing things that Dogs do for us.  This morning, one of our local Police cars drove by with a really serious looking four legged dog in the back seat. This dog knew it was “his” back seat and he eye- balled me just to let me know that. Actually it made me better knowing he was on “patrol”.  Then I thought about the gorgeous looking dogs that sat at their masters legs at the airport when I traveled this year. Again, I had felt safer. They had such dignity and never missed a beat checking out passengers. I’m sure  glad they are on our sides.

Then looking at the recent earthquakes and thinking of all the rescue dogs that find people that humans would have never been able to find with out those special noses that their dogs have. And what about the seeing-eye dogs that are so specially trained and who help visually impaired humans lead a normal life. All of these four legged pals are really our “Silent Hero’s…whether they are Search and Rescue, Police, Bomb Sniffers, Seeing Eye Dogs or Fire Dogs or just our faithful companions….they are Hero’s.

Of course if you own a dog, you are convinced that yours is the smartest and most loyal…Our four legged friends really are awesome. We have all read how a lost dog found it’s owners 5000 miles away after looking for them for over three years, or the ones that alerted their owners about a fire in the house, or ones that are taken to nursing homes and are helping patients with Alzheimer’s keep in touch. They really are beloved companions.

So if you think you have the smartest, prettiest, most friendly dog in Broward County, drop us a picture and a story about why your dog is so special and we will enter you in our contest for the “Best Dog “ contest being held at the store on Saturday the 27th. You could win a dozen red roses arranged in a vase!

And if you know someone who cannot have a dog in their apartment, or has recently lost a faithful companion or want a unique basket arrangement for a gift, just call us…Flowers From The Rainflorist always has a puppy waiting for a good home. .We even have a Mommy and puppy dog arrangement for you…and our dogs come in very trendy colors….however, they cannot “woof’woof”.
